1. About Us
The Gyotoku Nature Conservation Club (Certified NPO) is dedicated to preserving local biodiversity through two core missions: managing the Gyotoku Wildlife Sanctuary and operating the Wild Bird Rescue Center.
Located in Ichikawa City, Chiba Prefecture (just east of central Tokyo), this rich wetland ecosystem serves as a vital sanctuary for migratory birds and diverse coastal wildlife.
Through habitat management, wildlife rescue, research, and environmental education and awareness, we work tirelessly to protect this precious environment.
2. Gyotoku Wildlife Sanctuary
A unique mosaic of wetlands, grasslands, and wooded habitats located in the innermost part of Tokyo Bay. This area is home to a rich diversity of birds (including waterbirds), insects, plants, and other wildlife. Along the shore, tidal flats provide valuable habitat for a variety of coastal wildlife, including mudskippers and other species adapted to tidal-flat environments.
・Can I enter the sanctuary?
To minimize disturbance to wildlife, the sanctuary is generally closed to the public. However, visitors can experience this rich natural environment by joining our guided nature walks.
3. Wild Bird Rescue Center
We operate a specialized rescue and rehabilitation center for wild birds injured due to human activity. Our mission is to treat these birds and successfully return them to the wild. We also aim to raise public awareness about the human impact on our wild neighbors.

4. Events & Guided Tours
We regularly host events where visitors can experience the beauty and wonders of nature firsthand through the Gyotoku Wildlife Sanctuary. International visitors and residents are welcome to join. Please note that most activities and explanations are conducted in Japanese.
・Regular Guided Nature Walks (定例観察会)
Held every Sunday and national holiday from 13:30 to 15:30 (15:30 to 17:00 from July through September). Join our staff for a guided walk through areas of the sanctuary that are normally closed to the public.
- Fee: Free of charge
- Reservation: Not required (First-come, first-serve / capacity: 20 people)

5. Support Our Mission
As a certified NPO, our conservation activities rely heavily on the generous support of our community and members.

- Volunteer: Get hands-on experience and help us maintain and preserve the natural habitats within the sanctuary.
